EAM House

EAM House provides a ‘shared care’ facility for children with complex health needs and special needs, between the ages of birth and nineteen years of age. The house can have seven children to stay at any one time and where possible EAM House will try to accommodate children of the same age.

The admissions on first day of your child’s stay will be from 3pm onwards. Towels and bedding are included in the basic package. For safety reasons and to avoid overlap your child must be collected by 2pm on the day of departure.

The house stands in its own grounds, with gardens to the front and rear. It is in a residential area within walking distance of shops and the Medical Centre.

The advantage of the home is that it is purpose built for the disabled, with wide corridors and all areas accessible to wheelchair users.

It has two large lounges/playroom mainly used for watching TV/Videos/DVD’s. A large conservatory provides an area for activities and a dining area is incorporated within the lounge. There is a large kitchen in which fresh meals are cooked daily, always including a vegetarian option. Specialist diets are catered for on request.

The bedrooms each have a single electric multi-functioning bed, drawers with adequate storage space and a wardrobe. The bedrooms all have low windows so that a child that is in a wheelchair can look into the garden. Each room has a television and digibox. Children are encouraged to bring their own choice of music to play and most importantly, personal belongings that they are fond of.

There is a hoist that enables the staff to transfer children from their wheelchair to their bed and bath, with as little movement and discomfort as possible. There is also a large bathroom, which consists of W.C, sink, bath, a walk in shower and a separate disabled toilet.

There is a large, enclosed rear garden with patio and barbeque area, fishpond. The house has also adopted a donkey from the riding for disabled at Denton. Car parking is available for staff, families and visitors.

The Trafford Centre is less than 5 miles away, housing the countries largest under-cover shopping outlet, with cafés, restaurants, cinema and bowling all with disabled access.

The lovely countryside of Lymm and Dunham Massey Hall, Cheshire is within easy travelling distance as are Sale Water Park and the Chill Factor.  Manchester International Airport offers an excellent trip out to view planes and Old Trafford Football Ground offers a great day out for all sports fans.
