In 2008 our wonderful sensory room with a heated waterbed, coloured lights and ball pool was opened at EAM House. Upstairs we now have a further two bedrooms which are accessed by a lift. Also a brand new kitchen was fitted in March 2009 with access for wheelchairs and has low work surfaces to enable children and young people to help in the kitchen. EAM House is regulated by OFSTED and has twice yearly inspections. We have recently had an OFSTED inspection and these are a few of the comments in the report: "Helping Children to be Healthy The staff receive terrific training that enables them to provide specialised health care in a caring and dignified manner. Families describe the home as the best respite care facility they have every encountered. The home has establsihed excellent links with the community health teams and effectively contributes to children's health reviews. Helping Children achieve well and enjoy what they do The provision is outstanding. Families experiences extend to receiving terrific support and care from the home. This includes children having an extensive range of activities and facilites to reflect their spiriturla and social wellbeing. Achieve economic wellbeing The provision is outstanding. Terrific consideration is given to the design of the premises to enable a homely atmosphere to be secured, whilst still providing a comprehensive range of specialised equipment necessary to keep children healthy and safe. Organisation Training is given a high priority to ensure the skills of staff match the needs of the children."
